Should You Use Water-based paint or a 2-Part Paint?

When it comes to painting your car, there are a lot of different things to consider. What type of paint are you going to use? What color should you paint it? And, most importantly, how are you going to paint it? These days, most people opt for spraying their paint job rather than brushing it on. But what kind of paint should you use for spraying? Should you use a water-based paint or a 2-Part Paint? Let's break it down.

2-Part Paint

2-Part Paint is also known as two-component paint. This type of paint is made up of two parts: the resin and the hardener. The main advantage of using 2-Part Paint is that it dries very hard and very glossy. It also has excellent durability and resistance to scratches and other forms of wear and tear. On the downside, 2-Part Paint is slightly more expensive.

Water-based Paint

Water-based paint, as the name suggests, is made with water as the primary solvent. The main advantage of water-based paint is that it is much easier to apply than other types of paint. Additionally, water-based paints are typically less expensive. On the downside, water-based paints don't offer the same level of durability as 2-Part Paints. They also tend to be less glossy and don't offer the same depth of color.

Which One Should You Use?

So, which one should you use? If you're looking for an easy-to-apply option with good coverage, then water-based primer is probably your best bet. However, if you're looking for a harder, more durable finish with great resistance to wear and tear, then you might want to opt for 2-Part primer.

At the end of the day, the decision of whether to use 2-Part primer or water-based primer comes down to a matter of personal preference. Consider what type of finish you're looking for and what your budget is before making your decision. Whichever route you choose, just make sure that you follow the directions carefully and take your time so that you end up with a beautiful finish that you're happy with!
